What is BetaRight WGP?
BetaRight WGP is a patented ingredient that contains beta 1,3/1,6 gluco polysaccharide purified from a proprietary strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Baker's yeast) that is widely recognized as an immune system enhancer.
BetaRight WGP triggers human immune defenses that have evolved over thousands of years to protect the body. It works with the body's first line of defense that consists primarily of key immune cells (monocytes/macrophages, neutrophils and natural killer cells) that circulate throughout the body and identify and destroy foreign intruders.
BetaRight WGP initiates a heightened immune response that includes:
- Increased killing capacity of key immune cells to engulf and destroy intruders.
- Enhanced movement of these cells to the site of foreign challenge and to immune organs (spleen, peripheral lymph nodes, bone marrow) throughout the body.
- Killing of foreign cells with bursts of toxic chemicals, including reactive oxygen intermediate, hydrogen peroxide or super oxide production.
There are several sources of gluco polysaccharide, including yeast, mushrooms, oats and barley, but not all are created equal. Each type of carbohydrate has a unique structure in which glucose molecules are linked together in different ways, giving them different biological properties.
It is important to note that only the 1,3/1,6 linkages of yeast beta glucan are known to spark the greatest degree of biological activity, making it the most potent immune system enhancer. In fact, research demonstrates that yeast beta glucan has far superior immune-enhancing benefits when compared with oat and barley beta glucans. An independent study found that BetaRight WGP enhanced the killing capacity of key immune cells (See Figure 2)
